India has established a reciprocal air bubble arrangement with Sri Lanka for operation of unique international passenger trips in between the two countries, the Civil Aviation Ministry stated on Saturday.
With this, India now has such deals with 28 countries, including Afghanistan, Bahrain, Canada, France, Germany, Iraq, Japan, the Maldives, Nigeria, Qatar, the UAE, the U.K. and the USA.
Under an air bubble deal between two nations, unique global traveler flights can be run by their airlines into each other’s territories under limiting conditions.
“India has actually finalized an air bubble contract with Sri Lanka, making it the sixth such arrangement in SAARC region and also the 28th in overall,” the Civil Aviation Ministry claimed on Twitter.
“All the qualified passengers will certainly be able to take a trip in between the two nations in the future,” it noted.
Scheduled international flights have actually been suspended in India since March 23, 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Nevertheless, special international traveler trips have been running under the Vande Bharat Mission since May in 2020 and under reciprocal air bubble setups since July.
